Register a team

FLL teams solve real-world challenges by building LEGO-based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. FLL teams, guided by their imaginations and adult coaches, discover exciting career possibilities and, through the process, learn to make positive contributions to society.

Registration process

FLL is fun!

There are three steps to registration:

  1. Register your team with the national FIRST® LEGO® League to get your team number and purchase robot and field set up kits: http://gofll.usfirst.org/.
    Registration is open May-September.
  2. Register for a Utah FIRST® LEGO® League qualifying tournament and select your preferred location and date to attending an event: https://umarket.utah.edu/firstlegoleague-utah/ Registration for qualifying events is open May-September and are first come first serve.
  3. Register for the free coaches workshop that will be held in August at the University of Utah: http://www.utfll.utah.edu/coachesworkshop.php
    Registration is open May-Aug. 1.

Step 1: Register your team with the national FIRST® LEGO® League

To officially become a FLL team, purchase your necessary materials and get coach support, you need to register with the national FIRST® LEGO® League organization. Registration opens annually from May to September at http://gofll.usfirst.org/.

Step 2: Register your team for a Utah FIRST® LEGO® League qualifying tournament

Your team can participate in a qualifying tournament and potentially advance to the Utah Championship. The Registration fee is $75. Register your team here.

Step 3: Register for the free coach workshop

A free coach workshop is held each summer in August. At the workshop we discuss team meetings, how to get started programming, the innovative project, core values and more. The workshop is on the first Friday in August from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Register here.

Additional Information: Bring your laptop with LEGO MINDSTORMS software installed and your robot kit. We will be building robots.
